Skills are abilities which a character can learn and train, fulfilling a wide variety of roles in crafting, combat, magic, politics, and other fields. Crafting-based skills are sometimes referred to as tradeskills. Most skills include a set of Abilities, Stances, or Techniques that the player can utilize based on their character's proficiency in the skill.

  • Abilities generally refer to non-combat and crafting skills.
  • Stances are related to combat abilities and actions. Each stance may include several Techniques. Many magic-based skills also include Techniques.

Skills will be trained by performing tasks that utilize the skill, especially via minigames.

Each character will begin the game with a limited pool of unallocated skill points. These points will be allocated to various skills based on how successful the character is at using the skill and how challenging the things the character tries are for their current level of that skill. Once a character has exhausted their pool of skill points, further training of skills will begin to take points from the least-utilized skills the character has.

A skill reaches mastery when it has received the maximum number of skill points. A character will be able to pin up to three mastered skills in order to prevent them from decaying when other skills are trained.
